Sleeping in a Comfortable Bed
The importance of sleep for good health cannot be undermined. It’s restorative powers is well-documented. Even without evidence, we all know that sleep allow us to regenerate from the daily pressures of life.
Sufficient sleep means 7 to 8 hours a day. Some could get by with 6 hours a day. But according to studies, 7 to 8 hours of sleep is the most beneficial. Those who sleep 6 hours below or 9 hours above are not as healthy as those who have 7 to 8 hours of sleep.
Unfortunately, a number of people do not have adequate sleep daily. For some reason sleep eludes them at night. Several factors could contribute to sleeplessness. These include:
1. Environment – an ideal environment that induces sleep is one that is not noisy, no distractions from other people, not too hot or too cold temperature, comfortable mattress or beds and others. When choosing a bed a Divan base is very comfortable and you can have storage cupboard underneath to create more space.
Choosing the right mattress is critical for a good night’s sleep because a soft, inviting mattress could easily get our body to relax. A hard mattress however is not ideal as it does not provide comfort for the body.
2. Illness – if one has physical ailment, it is easy to get distracted in sleep especially if one is taking medications that will not promote sleep. Some medications make it difficult for a person to fall asleep.
3. Mental Problems – thinking about problems and bringing these problems with you to sleep will not make you fall asleep since your body is still active mentally.
To make the mind relax before going to bed, it is important to do either of the following relaxation techniques: meditation, praying, yoga. Some mental problems however are more difficult to handle especially if they have progressed into disorders already. To address mental disorders, you require psychiatric help and certain medications.
Forcing yourself to sleep late in the mornings to compensate for lack of sleep at nights may not be such a good idea as your body may get used to sleeping in the mornings and you will no longer feel sleepy at night. It is important to maintain a sleep/wake routine. This way the body will be acclimated to the proper hours of rest and for activities.
