Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker Review

For Christmas this year, my mom got me a new Slow Cooker, which was at the top of my wish list. My old Crock Pot slow cooker was not programmable and, as a result, I often over-cooked our dinners. My old Crock Pot (only 5 years old) also cooked much hotter than one would expect, the “warm” setting acting, more like “low”, would continue to cook the food much beyond desired. Suffice to say, this was a gift I was excited to receive and my old Crock Pot was sent quickly to find a new home at the local Good Will. I have been very pleased with this new, Hamilton Beach slow cooker and would highly recommend it!

Hamilton Beach Set ‘n Forget Review

The Hamilton Beach Set ‘n Forget 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker is a great choice for working families who need quick meals ready when you are! I love that I can throw a meal together in the morning before work and have it ready when I get home. What sets this apart from other slow cookers is the thermometer probe.

3 Modes When set to the “probe” mode, the meal will cook until it reaches your desired setting then switch over to the warm setting. If you are like me and have no clue as to what internal temperature your meat should be cooked to, the manual provides a temperature guide for most meats. Unlike my previous slow cooker, the warming setting does not continue to cook the food! If you do not want to use the probe mode, you can also use the program or manual mode. With the program mode, your food will cook for a specified amount of time and setting (High or Low), then switch to Warm setting until you turn off our slow cooker. With the manual mode, your food will cook at the specified setting (high, low, or warm), until you turn off the slow cooker.

Other Thoughts This slow cooker also did a good job of holding in the moisture of the meal, a necessary for tasty results. Some other great aspects of this slow cooker are that it is dishwasher safe (a must in our house) and has a ceramic crock that will stand the test of time and cleans well. It is also very reasonably priced. While my slow cooker is one of my most used appliances, especially in the winter and fall seasons, I do not want to spend hundreds of dollars when I can get a quality appliance for much cheaper. As always, looks do matter when it comes to appliances and accessories, and I am very pleased with the look of the Hamilton Beach Set ‘n Forget 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker. While larger due to its cooking capacity, it does not look overly bulky or tacky. I love the black and stainless finish which also wipes and cleans nicely. Overall, I really recommend this slow cooker!
