Homemade Halloween Decoration…Again

As promised, I have sifted through all my old Halloween crafts and project ideas to give you some easy and funHalloween decorations for the upcoming holiday. These projects are simple to do and are effective in turning your home into a macabre masterpiece worthy of any undead interior designer.

Shrunken Heads

An apple a day will keep the doctor away, but during Halloween it can also be used to make the goose-flesh appear. All you need is a few apples, the bigger the better, a knife for peeling and a few days to let them sit.

Peel the apple and then carve a face into the meat and then set them aside for a few days. As the apples dry out, they will shrink and the face will dry out as well and create the illusion of a shrunken head. Place them on tables as decorations or use them as part of a Halloween centerpiece.

Hospital Gauze Furniture Covers and Window Treatments

Any Halloween enthusiast has some hospital gauze on hand to help covers those bleeding wounds and bandage bumped head of careless zombies, but the white, thin material can also be used to decorate the home. Separate the sheets of hospital gauze into large segments and begin putting on random holes or even cut outs into them.

Draping them over windows like curtains can give your home the look of abandonment and they will create the perfect ambiance for a Halloween party. Drape some over furniture to add a little creepy to your love seat. Make sure there are no flames anywhere near the material and make sure to keep people from smoking at the party. This materials can be very flammable, so play it safe and keep flames away.

Egg Carton Spider

Last week, we discussed how to make egg carton bats and this week I thought I would break out the old egg carton bats. All you need to do is cut out each egg holder and paint it black. Poke four holes on each side for the legs and two small holes at the top for the string to hang.

Place pipe cleaners through one hole and out the corresponding hole on the other side and bend them into legs. You can purchase eyeballs from a craft store and glue them on or just paint them on, its your choice.

Take the string and thread it in one of the holes in the top and bring it out from the other side and tie it in a knot. Hang them from the ceiling or off of cobwebs you have created throughout the home.

Halloween isnt here yet and as long as I have awesome ideas to share on spooky home décor and decoration, then I will keep giving them to you. Halloween is my favorite time of the year and my mind is constantly thinking on awesome décor for the home.
